PRESS RELEASE: RightCount Statement from Former Arizona Governor Jan Brewer on Election-Related Executive Order

PHOENIX, AZ:  RightCount released the following statement from former Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, Chair of RightCount Arizona, in response to the federal executive order impacting mail-in voting and election administration:

“Americans deserve confidence in their elections, and that confidence is best built through adherence to the Constitution, not by bypassing it,” Governor Brewer said. “We should also recognize the facts: election fraud in the United States is exceedingly rare, including with mail-in voting, which has consistently demonstrated strong security when administered properly. The men and women who run our elections at the state and local level – clerks, administrators, and volunteers – do an exceptional job ensuring accuracy, transparency, and accountability.

“Any effort to strengthen our systems must be done the right way: by following the Constitution and respecting the roles it assigns. Attempts to centralize that authority inside federal agencies will undoubtedly face strict legal scrutiny. We can maintain strong election integrity while also upholding the rule of law. RightCount remains dedicated to supporting local election officials and commonsense state reforms that increase security and build trust in election outcomes.”

Recent polling conducted by RightCount underscores that voters – particularly Republicans – strongly prefer elections to remain state-administered rather than federally controlled. Across key battleground states, large majorities of voters favor states setting and running their own elections, including 73% of all voters in Arizona (with just 15% preferring federal control), 73% in Georgia, 80% in Nevada, and 74% in Wisconsin. That preference crosses partisan lines, with over 60% of Republican voters in all four states favoring state administration of elections.

These findings highlight broad-based skepticism toward efforts to nationalize election administration and reinforce the importance of preserving the constitutional role of states in running elections.
