With elections right around the corner, former Governor Pat McCrory, Chair of RightCount North Carolina, joined local leaders in touring the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections facility. The tour spotlighted election security best practices and procedures at the facility. Mecklenburg County is currently testing all 5,000 of its voting machines by hand, a process necessary because the machines don’t connect to the internet.

Milwaukee, WI – The Wisconsin State Journal published an opinion piece this morning penned by RightCount Leadership Advisory Council member JB Van Hollen. Van Hollen, a former Attorney General for the state of Wisconsin, outlines the protections already in place to keep Wisconsin elections safe as well as ways to alleviate doubts to keep improving. 

In case you missed it, today’s Atlanta Journal-Constitution features an op-ed from Eric Johnson, former president pro tempore of the Georgia Senate and current chair of RightCount Georgia. Johnson warns that recent actions by the U.S. Department of Justice to demand personal voter data from states, including Georgia, represent federal overreach that undermines the Constitution, state sovereignty, and voter privacy.

In case you missed it, today, RealClearPolitics published an important op-ed by former Governors Jan Brewer (AZ) and Pat McCrory (NC) – both state chairs of RightCount – making the case for why election administration must remain in the hands of the states, not Washington bureaucrats. In “Mail-In Voting: Trust the States to Decide,” they highlight how secure, state-run mail voting has long strengthened confidence in election outcomes and why federal interference would be a mistake.

The Arizona Capitol Times and Fox 10 Phoenix highlighted RightCount’s ongoing work to strengthen trust in Arizona elections. While the 2024 election brought fewer false claims and no litigation, challenges to public confidence remain.

Reading, PA: Today, former Pennsylvania Governor Mark Schweiker, co-chair of RightCount Pennsylvania, visited the Berks County Election Center to observe firsthand the systems and protocols in place to protect the integrity of local elections.
