ICYMI: RightCount Leads Maricopa County Election Tour, Boosts Confidence in Election Outcomes

“I have no doubt that our elections are honest and they turn out the right data.”
– Gov. Jan Brewer, Chair of RightCount Arizona

The Arizona Capitol Times and Fox 10 Phoenix highlighted RightCount’s ongoing work to strengthen trust in Arizona elections. While the 2024 election brought fewer false claims and no litigation, challenges to public confidence remain.

To help build understanding and transparency, RightCount board members — including former Governor and Secretary of State Jan Brewer, former Maricopa County Recorder Helen Purcell, and former Congressman Matt Salmon — recently toured the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center. Election Director Scott Jarrett walked through the county’s processes, from ballot creation and printing to secure tabulation, and emphasized the multiple safeguards in place to ensure every vote is counted accurately.

Despite continued efforts by some to spread distrust, both county officials and RightCount remain committed to putting facts first. As former Governor Brewer put it, education is the antidote to misinformation:

“They don’t understand the elections, and they might repeat something that somebody else has said to them…We have to explain what we know and have learned about elections in our time.”

Why it matters:

  • Maricopa County is the nation’s third-largest voting jurisdiction.
  • Turnout remains among the highest in the country, hovering near 80% in 2020 and 2024.
  • Transparency efforts like Tour Tuesdays give the public direct access to see elections in action.

At RightCount, we’ll continue working to ensure voters have access to the truth about how elections work — and why they can trust the results.
