Wisconsin State Journal: Simple security measures ensures our elections remain trusted
Wisconsin State Journal | June 27, 2024
Jason Church
U.S. Army Veteran Jason Church applauded Former Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch’s recent column on election integrity and echoed her support for RightCount Wisconsin in a Letter to the Editor in the Wisconsin State Journal.
“Like many veterans, I put my life on the line for our rights, including the right to vote. I understand sacrifices sometimes must be made to ensure our loved ones back home can enjoy freedom from tyranny,” Church wrote in a piece for the Wisconsin State Journal, adding “Americans are blessed to live in this nation, but that doesn’t mean our elections are perfect. Our system requires trust in our fellow citizens to operate. No election is perfect but with proper processes in place, we can prevent tampering.”
Church went on to underscore how simple tactics such as “independent testing of voting machines, secure ballot storage and no internet access for voting machines are in place to prevent fraud” can help “restore the public’s trust in elections.”
The letter to the editor arrives shortly after the announcement that Kleefisch will serve as Wisconsin co-chair of RightCount, a group that seeks “to educate Wisconsin voters on the integrity and accuracy of the electoral processes,” in order to “reduce the appeal of extremism for election doubters and build confidence in the outcome of elections,” according to its website.
