Statement from RightCount Chair Pat McCrory on Conclusion of North Carolina Supreme Court Election Challenge

RALEIGH, N.C:  After months of legal wrangling, Republican Judge Jefferson Griffin has conceded the 2024 North Carolina Supreme Court race to Democratic incumbent Justice Allison Riggs. His decision comes two days after a federal judge ruled that thousands of disputed ballots, many cast by military and overseas voters, must be included in the final tally. Former Governor Pat McCrory, Chair of RightCount North Carolina, released the following quote:

“The longest campaign in North Carolina history has finally come to a close. While the candidate I supported did not prevail, this is the right outcome. We must keep working to improve our voting process and ensure the rules are grounded in the constitution—not shaped by the shifting self-interests of our two major political parties,” former Governor Pat McCrory said. “RightCount will continue working to improve election integrity and ensure that our system works for every North Carolinian—especially those defending our freedoms abroad.”

RightCount and RightCount Action worked for months with paid advertising and state and local press interviews to set the record straight on Jefferson Griffin’s election challenges and protect the votes of military voters and their family members overseas.
