FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 13, 2024
Reno, NV — Former Governor Bob List and State Senator Heidi Seevers O’Gara, co-chairs of RightCount Nevada, issued a statement today recognizing the strength, integrity, and dedication demonstrated throughout state’s ongoing election process. Amid high voter turnout, election workers handled voters, mail-in ballots, managed lines, and continue to report results efficiently, transparently and accurately.
“Nevada’s election workers have been the backbone of our democracy. Their tireless commitment to processing votes and maintaining order in the midst of record turnout has ensured a fair, accurate, and smoothly conducted election. The work and response of our professional and dedicated election workers, along with the advocacy of our statewide leadership committee, should give every Nevadan a renewed confidence in the strength and reliability of our election system.”
The co-chairs also emphasized that RightCount will continue its mission of building public trust in Nevada’s election process. “In an election season as closely watched and competitive as this one, we recognize that not all our fellow Nevadans will be pleased with the outcome. RightCount will remain committed to enhancing public confidence in our election process, ensuring that every voter can trust their voice has been heard, and their vote has counted.” At several points throughout the election cycle, RightCount mobilized its state leadership team to spotlight voter roll maintenance efforts, praise Governor Lombardo’s election security strategy, encourage county commissioners to uphold their oath and the rule of law in certifying election recanvassing, and also encourage voters to trust the vote-by-mail system to return their ballot. RightCount conducted survey research and educated citizens across Nevada on election integrity issues. In addition to producing ads featuring trusted messengers and voting safeguards, the 501(c)(3) organization successfully recruited and launched a leadership advisory committee and garnered statewide and national news media coverage to build public confidence in the voting process and election outcomes.
Along with former Governor List and Senator Seevers O’Gara, RightCount’s Leadership Advisory Committee is comprised of civic leaders from across Nevada, including Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam, Realtor Alex Garza, educator Katie Hinxman, Executive Director of Strengthen Our Community Mike Kazmierski, retired Clark County District Attorney David Roger, and CEO of Reno Sparks Chamber of Commerce Ann Silver.
